Images above are just a small batch from all the images created during CNFSD project. It is a curational project made of found imagery and stock photos. That's the point.
CNFSD INTIMATE POP PROJECT
Art-project based on a strong belief that we’re reflecting pop-culture while the culture reflecting us back — infinite loop of consumption we're trapped in.
Disco-ball of everything.
To resample, recycle, recontextualize and finally personalize found images the special app was built:
Using the CNFSD app is like an active viewing. All visuals you’ve picked up you can rethink and easily recreate into something new with some new meaning and “personal” message.
Project was started in late 2014 as a study for MT “Malibu Alibi” album cover which has had a very specific brief, something like “use this two images necessarily”:
Experiment didn’t went well but lead to the five years of artistic explorations which are still kind a going on.
The app merges two images in a chessboard manner, which is very similar to any digitally double exposed image, blended one way or another, BUT with chessboard method you recycle BOTH source images without any loss of color and message as well. I think it’s very important in this case, to produce conceptually straight “double image”.
You actually merge them:
Since all the source images have respective authors and messages I feel quite uncomfortable to print out resampled images. This kind of art belongs to web. But I wanted to create some material object within the project.
So I decided to print QR-code with a link to the random CNFSD image — web interpretation of a painting to reinterpret. Thankfully all the images are very abstract and vague. Limited edition, signed, numbered, hilariously expensive t-shirt:
Nevertheless, CNFSD app is still could be used to create IRL object. For example, this one is my take on the cover art for great Yoshinori Sunahara’s LP “Pan Am The Sound Of 70’s”.
Contact me if you want a CNFSD cover, illustration, print, whatever.
Look through CNFSD web exhibition i.e. my personal visual diary and get the MacOS application on project website:
NOTE: all rights on sampled images belong to their owners. If you don't want your image being used here, please, let me know. Thanks anyway!
All project visuals were made with application even the project logo / icon / favicon. Also note that such a perfect icon for the project was made from accidentally found images and wasn’t made on purpose. Love it:
